Lemon Yellow Bedroom Accessories

Lemon yellow is like a soft wash of sunshine over any room. Neither overtly masculine or feminine it can be used in many spaces however it's particularly good as a jolly neutral for children's rooms and kitchens. It also works extremely well as an understated accent colour to add a pop of gentle warmth to living rooms and bedrooms, especially those that face North. Keep it light and bright by mixing it with white, or add a dose of sophistication by teaming it with grey tones and walnut wood.

1 Sunshine Underfoot. This glorious rug couldn't fail to bring a smile to your face. With it's delicate pattern, cut-outs and articulation, it is a perfect example of how toning down the yellow dial can have as much impact as it's more vivid full-on bright colour cousin. Lemon yellow is simply a touch more sophisticated. (Rug custom-coloured for ELLE Decoration by La Manufacture Cogolin.)

2 Sunshine on your walls What could be happier than this playful paper adorning a feature wall? This 'Cow Parsley' paper by Cole&Son is definitely one of the prettiest around. Pale but interesting.

3 Sunshine under bottom Perhaps you wouldn't want a lemon yellow sofa as the main anchor in your living room, but perhaps in a snug, study, kitchen/diner (if there was room), it would be wonderful. It's almost as if the colour itself is inviting you to go on, sneak me in, you know you want to. This is the classic 'Togo' sofa by Michael Ducaroy, designed in 1073 for Ligne Roset.

4 Gender neutral Yellow is one colour that can not readily be deemed particularly male or female, thus it makes a wonderful backdrop for young children's rooms, or for pre-birth nursery planning when the sex is unknown. It's happy vibes are also a positive although there is an old wives tale that says babies cry more in rooms of this shade, not that we have any proof of that at all.
